What is the Bible Certificate Program?

The Bible Certificate Program provides the opportunity to Bible leaders, Sunday school teachers and small group leaders, who desire to increase Bible knowledge, to take classes at Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary without the stress of time restraints or grades. All courses are online. Upon completion of the outlined course of study, the student will be presented with a Bible Certificate.

How does the Bible Certificate Program Work?

This is a two-year online Certificate program designed for the student to take at least one course in each of the three semesters (Fall, Spring and Summer) of the school year.  Once a student completes 6 certificate courses, they are awarded a Bible Certificate.

What is an online course?

Online courses are conducted over the Internet and do not have meetings in a designated physical space.

What computer skills do I need to take an online course?

You will need to know how to:

  • send email
  • download files
  • save and upload assignments
  • use Zoom
How much does a Bible Certificate course cost?

Each course cost:

  • $85 per course
  • Cost of Books
Do Bible Certificate Courses qualify for the ABA student scholarship?

Each course is already reduced in cost, so no discounts apply.

Would I have to be online at a certain time for class?

All of the work will be done on your own time according to your schedule – this gives you flexibility and the responsibility to stay on task.

What kind of technology would I need for an online course?

You will need:

  • laptop or tablet with webcam and microphone
  • reliable internet connection
How do I enroll for an online course?

You register for an online course as you do for any credit course. All students must logon to Populi for registration. You will find a link to Populi on the TBI homepage. tbi.edu.

When does class begin?

Your course begins on the date specified on the TBI calendar.

How do I drop a Bible Certificate course?

You may drop a Bible Certificate course on Populi as you would any other course.

How do I know the courses I have completed or need to take?

You may locate current and past course information by choosing the STUDENT tab in Populi. Choose DEGREE AUDIT to see courses completed and not completed towards your Bible Certificate.

Who monitors and submits my required assignments?

You are in charge of submitting assignments when due. The Bible Certificate coordinator monitors your progress but you are responsible for all of these submissions.

What if my Internet is not working?

A reliable Internet service is required. Please plan and submit assignments so as to allow for potential service interruptions. Contact the Bible Certificate coordinator with concerns or questions when necessary.

Who updates my profile information?

You must update your profile information and keep all contact information current.
